About this episode
Anne Erwin and Jeff clearly go way back. She was a principal working with him when he was a superintendent in Oregon. Anne joined us because she was not an ordinary principal. She turned around the high school in a very unique way and leaned on a community process and bold vision that did in fact come to fruition. Anne is brutally honest, focused, and passionate about what schools, communities, and especially students are capable of.

Anne Erwin is an experienced educator committed to supporting schools and the community. She began her teaching career in 1985 at Hilhi in Oregon and taught there for 21 years. In the fall of 2012, she began her 10 years of service as principal at BHS, retiring in June 2022. At BHS she worked with the staff and community to develop a clear sense of mission and values. They crafted plans for change and worked on change efforts to achieve their goals. In everything they did (planning, decisions, budget, course offerings, events) they tried to draw on their core values (Excellence, Learning, Community, and Tradition) in support of achieving their mission: They believed ALL students would graduate from BHS prepared for, confident in, and excited about the future they choose.
Anne retired in June 2022 after 37 years in education. She enjoys spending time with her husband, 3 children, and 4 grandchildren.
